The Playstation 3 is by far the most powerful gaming console that has ever been developed for gaming purposes. It uses the latest in technology and produces graphics that were once thought impossible as early as a decade ago. Surely, the Playstation console has definitely come a long way.

With Sony at the helm, it's surely a winning combination that will leave gamers in awe, and game developers a whole new door of possibilities to work with. But does better graphics necessarily mean that gamers, will have a better experience in gaming? Maybe not. This is the only way people can explain the immense success of the Nintendo Wii compared to that of Sony's Playstation 3. The Nintendo Wii, perhaps the most successful one among the “big three” consoles, does not have the capabilities that the Playstation 3 has. So what are the advantages of having a Playstation 3 then?

1. It really is the most powerful console by far.

If you can get past its hefty price tag, having a Sony Playstation 3 might in fact, be a good idea. Just because they're falling behind in the console race right now doesn't mean that they're going to lose. It's just that all the capabilities of the Playstation 3 haven't been tapped into yet. And if you will notice, more and more games are being released into the Playstation 3 right now. And the graphics are certainly spectacular.

Right now, game developers for the Playstation 3 just need to find a way to work all those graphics and game play capabilities to their advantage giving gamers an offer they can't refuse, something that they can't find in any other console. Surely, that time for Sony is around the corner, but are you willing to wait for it?

2. At least it can play Blu Ray movies right?

It may be a fallback, but at least you get to have two devices in one. Well, maybe just one device with a dual purpose. But at least having a Playstation 3 saves you the hassle of buying a new Blu Ray player. This might save you a substantial amount of money since you will still enjoy the same level of entertainment the Sony Playstation 3 delivers, and you can get to watch High Definition movies at the comfort of your own home. Talk about a one-two punch huh?

3. It'll make your kids happy.

If you are a family man, getting the Sony Playstation 3 will definitely put a grin on your son's face. And it might put a grin into yours as well. If you think about it, everybody wins. Your kids get to have the console that they have been begging you for, and you will have your very own Blu Ray player. What you need to worry about, however, is the possibility that you might not be able to use the Playstation 3 for watching your High Definition movies since your kids might actually be glued to its controllers and on the living room couch.
